Dr. J. Daniel Good
Superintendent / CEO
Welcome to the 2010-2011 Academic Year. It is my privilege to serve as superintendent of this dynamic district and it is an honor to nurture and celebrate our continuing legacy of excellence. Our professional learning family is proud of and grateful to the citizens of this richly diverse community for supporting the growth of the Westerville City School District - one of the state’s largest educational agencies.

Our vision is to be the benchmark of educational excellence. In order to achieve that objective, we prepare students to contribute to the competitive and changing world in which we live, our mission. Values of respect, inclusiveness, community, communication, collaboration, innovation, nurturing, trust and accountability are inherent through our learning and working places, processes, and people. The vision, mission and values create both the foundation and the framework that has promoted a culture of high performance – academically, emotionally, physically, and socially.

As our country becomes more diversified, so does the student body of Westerville City Schools. Our district serves more than 14,500 pupils in northeastern Franklin County and southern Delaware County. It is comprised of 23 schools – 16 elementaries, four middle schools and three high schools. More than 1,200 students in our system come from 80 plus countries and speak over 70 languages. Twelve percent of our students have been identified as disabled; twenty-two percent as gifted. Our enthusiastic teachers and support staff are prepared to meet the changing and challenging needs of all.

To help new families acclimate to the district and community, our enrollment process is streamlined. Westerville City Schools, in collaboration with OhioHealth, operate a centralized Enrollment and Family Resource Center, which is located at 300 Polaris Parkway on the third floor of the Westerville Medical Campus. OhioHealth generously donates this portion of its facility to the school district for $1 per year – one example of many community partnerships for which we are grateful.

The 2010-2011 school year promises to provide opportunities and challenges. Henry Ford said it well when he quipped, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” The members of our district will continue to work together to provide the best educational experience for our students.
