Happy New Year! It is hard to believe that it is 2014 and the school year is half over. Now we get to enjoy the brisk mornings and the lovely snow showersJ It has been a great year to date and I am looking forward to finishing this school year off strong.
Our kids are working hard and growing physically, emotionally, and academically. It is our responsibility as adults in their lives to encourage their efforts and help support them. We are all working on growing our students to be intelligent, hard working, critical thinkers. Here at school we are incorporating the 4’c (collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and communication) which are essential skills for the 21st Century Learner. These skills can be reinforced at home through everyday activities.
As we continue to work with our students both in the classroom and at home, I encourage all of you to give your child appropriate “wait time” prior to giving assistance on homework. This wait time teaches perseverance and pushes students out of their comfort zone when something becomes difficult. This task will be difficult, however, it is an important life skills to problem solve and become a critical thinker. Have a great January!
