Heritage Middle School
Building Message

Dear Husky Families,

The end of the year is rapidly approaching and I  would like to take a moment to thank all of the parents and volunteers that have made our year a memorable experience for our students especially with regard to our renaissance program.  Our data supports that this program has increased academic performance, decreased student discipline by 30%, and community/school involvement and enrollment is higher than in the past.

During the upcoming weeks leading up to the OAA (April 23,25,26) teachers in all areas are implementing additional interventions to increase student performance with regard to reading/comprehension and short answer/extended response questioning. When reviewing assignments with your students, ask them to explain their responses/content and provide supporting details ensuring understanding.

In addition, we have been offering a tutoring program to help students increase academic achievement and master grade level content standards. Students were invited to attend study sessions with content area specialists during school hours. We utilized non-academic time and supplemental times throughout the day to accomplish these sessions. We have used several data points to determine who needed the additional help. Each student in the past would receive additional instruction in Math and Reading, this year we have included Science.  If you feel your student needs some additional help between now and the testing dates please contact their counselor.

If you have any questions, please call the main office. Please continue to monitor your students through PowerSchool online. Go to our website at www.wcsoh.org frequently, as items will be updated regularly with regard to announcements, sports schedules and other pertinent information. Please feel free to contact your student’s teacher, guidance counselor, Mr. Stranges or myself with any questions or concerns.

Joseph Kacsandi, Principal
