Heritage Middle School
Building Message

Dear Heritage Parents,

The end of the year is rapidly approaching and I would like to take a moment to thank our PTSA and all of the parents and volunteers that have made our year a memorable experience for our students especially with regard to our renaissance program, school socials, book fair and school spirit store just to name a few.  I would also like to thank all of our parents that volunteer at our front desk; your work is greatly appreciated by everyone in the main office.  Your support leads to increased academic performance because students feel part of a much larger community of caring adults.

During the upcoming weeks leading up to the OAA (April 28, 30 and May 1), teachers in all areas are implementing additional interventions to increase student performance with regard to reading/comprehension and short answer/extended response questioning. When reviewing assignments with your students, ask them to explain their responses/content and provide supporting details ensuring understanding.  Parents can go the ODE website and view practice tests and released test questions for additional review with their students.

In addition, we have been offering a tutoring program to help students increase academic achievement and master grade level content standards. Students were invited to attend study sessions with content area specialists during school hours. We utilized non-academic time and supplemental times throughout the day to accomplish these sessions. We have used several data points to determine who needed the additional help. Our goal is to grow all students, which means that if a student was accelerated last year, we want them to be advanced this year.  That said, tutoring can be different for different levels of students.  If you feel your student needs some additional help between now and the testing dates please contact their counselor.

If you have any questions, please call the main office. Please continue to monitor your students through PowerSchool online. Go to our website at www.wcsoh.org frequently as items will be updated regularly with regard to announcements, sports schedules and other pertinent information. Please feel free to contact your student’s teacher, guidance counselor, Mr. Stranges or myself with any questions or concerns.
